Summer Reads

4.17.2017
Hi, it's me, alive and well. The semester is nearing its end (THANKFULLY), my last exam is on May 10th, and by May 13th I'll be living with my kitty. Honestly, this has been the shittiest semester of my life for varying reasons, but I'm not taking any classes over summer this time so really, all I have to do is work, volunteer (also with kitties), and READ. I'm pretty behind on a lot of stuff I wanted to read earlier this year or even last, so I'm committing to a plan here. I'm definitely a mood reader but I'm going to do my best to stick to this because I AM EXCITED FOR THESE BOOKS.

I got Alex, Approximately from my otsp secret sister, and I'm going to try and make it my first read for summer. It sounds like the perfect start to my semi-freedom. The Start of Me and You was a gift from my secret sister last round, and I've been hearing great things about it for a LONG time so I think it's time I finally read it. And yes, I still haven't read The Raven King or Crooked Kingdom, I'M SORRY. At least it gives me a nice excuse to reread Six of Crows? A Gathering of Shadows and ACOL were also gifts from my secret sister this round and I am DYING to read them, because Lila Bard. LILA BARD. I HAVE MISSED HER. I think I want AGOS to be my second summer read.

lol I was supposed to read The Wrath and The Dawn LAST summer. THIS TIME IT'S HAPPENING.

I preordered A Court of Wings and Ruin, kind of on a whim. (By that I mean I was sad and resorted to retail therapy, and my birthday is tomorrow so WHATEVER.) I do have a lot of problems with the series and I don't really like Throne of Glass, but there's just something about the ACOTAR series that has kept me invested. Although it took me almost three months to read ACOMAF last summer, so. We'll see.

Obviously, I hope to get more reading done than just the ones above this summer. (Including some Harry Potter rereads. I am desperately in need of it, although I keep forgetting I have to study for the GRE.) So, give me some suggestions, both old and new! Tell me what you want to read this summer!

Also, enjoy this photo of my kitty.

Let's Talk Candles: Part II

2.14.2017
Last year, I posted about a few bookish candle shops that I thought looked really interesting. And now I'm back because THERE ARE JUST SO MANY. (I won't be mentioning the ones I previously mentioned, but you can definitely check out the first post for more options!)

Disclaimer: I haven't bought from most of these shops. The reality is that fandom candles are usually expensive. Add in shipping and it's just like, not smart for me to buy them. Which I understand! People are putting a lot of time and effort into this and SHIPPING IS AN EXPENSIVE THING. I'm basically just showing you pretty candles I WOULD buy and probably only would buy as gifts for birthdays and stuff like that because I'm irresponsible enough at Target, I don't need to be buying myself 10 candles from Etsy, too. (Also, all photos besides the one above are from the shops themselves, not me!)

Obviously I'm going to start with Hafsah's shop, IceyDesigns, just in case you haven't heard of it. Her shop has plenty of stuff that's perfect for book lovers, really - journals, including a Six of Crows one, cute pins, pencils. But for candles, there's one for Caraval, one for Windwitch, one for An Ember in the Ashes, and more! They all look BEAUTIFUL, and the candle for The Star Touched Queen sounds particularly awesome. Candles are 8oz jars for $18 (without shipping - ships from USA).
