Pokemon Go Book Tag

7.19.2016

The Pokemon Go tag was created by Aentee, and the graphics all belong to her! I did skip a few of them that I couldn't think of a book for, so you'll definitely have to go to her for the full tag!

Okay, I'm going to be honest. I don't like Pokemon Go. It hardly ever works for me and when it does, nothing interesting happens. I think it's kind of ridiculous that they keep releasing it to hundreds of thousands of more users when there are still so many bugs, but I'm really happy for the people who are enjoying it and I hope I do eventually too.

BUT. I love Pokemon and the DS games so I HAD TO DO THIS.
Charmander has a special place in my heart, but also MUDKIP. AND FENNEKIN. I know we need evolutions but I get so sad when they evolve because they're literally never as cute as they are when they're tiny babies.

This is a touch question. Do we mean what got me started overall? Because I think that was in kindergarten when I had this one book about ocean creatures that was kind of 3D and the orcas and the dolphins were super sparkly and purple. What got me started in YA? Twilight, honestly. Even if I like to pretend otherwise.

Pikachu is great in the anime, sure, but I have literally never used it in a game and probably never will.

HARRY POTTER, MAN. JUST LOOK AT HOW MANY TIMES I'VE READ THEM. LOOK AT HOW SAD AND DAMAGED THEY ARE. You can't see, but their spines are all held together by tape on the bottom.

Fuck Zubats. And fuck Tentacruels, too.

Honestly? The Throne of Glass series. Now, before you eat me, I did read the first book! I didn't think it was awesome but I planned to continue. But it feels like I can't escape it, and the more I see of it, the less I want to read? I don't know. It's kind of sad because I want to find out who Rowan is.
I HAVE NOT SEEN A DITTO IN SO LONG THAT I FORGOT IT WAS EVEN A POKEMON.

This was hard. Really hard. I guess I could say Anna and the French Kiss - because there's a British guy and some miscommunication issues which is, like, THE NUMBER PLOT DEVICE OF YA NOVELS OF ALL GENRES.

A Song of Ice and Fire. The entire series. SO LONG. SO MANY WORDS. But I WILL DO IT SOMEDAY. I have all five books now although the font is the tiniest thing ever.
I've never used a Gengar, to be honest. Is it a good Pokemon??? I really like my Banette and Chandelure even though Chandelure has...many weaknesses...

The last book that kept me up was Morgan Matson's The Unexpected Everything

I have literally always hated these Pokemon. Always.

But SO MANY OTPs. You expect me to stop at one? Not happening. A few are Kaz and Inej from Six of Crows, Anna and √Čtienne from Anna and the French Kiss, Feyre and Rhysand from A Court of Mist and Fury, Ian and Wanda from The Host, Blue and Gansey from The Raven Cycle, Christian and Elyse from The Summer of Chasing Mermaids, and Cress and Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles
Again, HARRY POTTER. But like, here's the thing. Literally all I want is a series about the marauders. I will take it in the form of seven books or of a TV show, please. And I want it to stop before they all die. I want to see Sirius and James and their friendship, the kind of friendship that is so powerful. I want to see Lily finally give in to James. I want to see them in their lessons and their adventures and I WANT IT ALL. SO BADLY. And yet. Nothing. Nada. Never happening. I've heard The Cursed Child is pretty much trash so like WHY DO WE GET THAT AND NOT THE MARAUDERS??
I've never actually used Gyrados, either. THERE ARE TOO MANY AWESOME WATER POKEMON.

I was really surprised with how much I liked Six of Crows and A Darker Shade of Magic. I wasn't expecting not to like either of them - but I didn't know that I was going to love them as much as I did. I didn't think the different version of London would be SO intriguing and beautifully written. I didn't think that Six of Crows and Kaz and Inej were going to TAKE OVER MY LIFE.
When I was younger I spent over a week trying to catch Mewtwo in Emerald and I was never successful so SCREW YOU, YOU DEMON POKEMON.

I don't think they count as collector's but I WANT THE FRENCH EDITIONS OF HARRY POTTER SO BAD. AND THE BLOOMSBURY BOX SET.
But I also want this set because THE ART IS ALSO SO PRETTY.
But I also want the illustrated editions. WHY CAN'T I JUST HAVE MONEY TO SPEND ON HARRY POTTER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE? The sad part is I don't even own the 6th or 7th in my sad and dying set of copies that I showed above.
Cold Summer by Gwen Cole is going to be totally 100% awesome in 2017, I can promise you that. I'm also DYING for Caraval by Stephanie Garber because of how obsessed the people who have read it are - I have not heard a single bad thing about it! And lastly, Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones!

Haven't ACTUALLY been waiting that long but I feel like I've been waiting my entire life for The Ship Beyond Time, the sequel to one of my absolute favorite debuts of this year, The Girl From Everywhere!

Aaaaand we are finally at the end! That was almost as exhausting to write as it is for me to talk all day. I tag everyone because WHY NOT.
